4/24/2023 0 Comments Stronghold warlords keyWith these tips, you’re now equipped with everything you need to know to get your kingdom off to a good start in Stronghold: Warlords. Using Gold to build things like Zen Gardens, Theatres, or Arenas will award positive Fear Factor, while various torture devices will impress negative Fear Factor among the population. You can choose to have a positive Fear Factor, which will boost your troops’ ability to fight and provide a boost to happiness, or a negative Fear Factor, which will terrify your citizens into working harder, yielding more resources in exchange for happiness. Fear Factorįear Factor gives the player a metric of choice. Raising the amount of food that people can consume by building more farms can, subsequently, allow you to raise taxes. Each one gives a different level of boost, with Rice offering the most meagre and meat from Pigs giving the biggest. There are three types of farms you can create to build up food stockpiles: Rice, Vegetables, and Pigs. Low population happiness will cause people to flee, so it’s good to make sure you’re ahead of the curve. Fortunately, there are several ways to do this in Stronghold: Warlords. In order to run a successful kingdom, you need to keep your workers happy. Managing population in Stronghold: Warlords The Fletcher’s Workshop and the Axe Workshop are likely the two you should go for first, as each only requires wood. An Armory, paired with various workshops, will allow some townsfolk to work on making weapons and armor that are used to then create strong troops. Without building an Armory, you can only train two basic troop types at the Barracks, both of which are weaker than the Archers and Axemen in the starting army that Stronghold: Warlords grants you. Building walls as early as possible is important, as the AI, no matter who you choose to fight, is very aggressive. Stemp 4- Wall upĪgain, it depends on the resource settings, but you’ll likely start with enough stone to build Walls around at least your Stronghold, which is where your Warlord resides. As a general rule of thumb, you should never build a domicile below the normal House, unless a desperate situation necessitates quick building for a population boom. There are six levels of quality to the housing, and taking the quality into account absolutely matters for population bonuses. Step 3- Housingĭepending on how you tweak your resources in the pre-game menu, you’ll likely start with enough wood to build at least a couple of normal Houses. It’s very hard to get off to a quick start without a surplus of Wood. This will assign workers to, in turn, collect Wood, which is a necessary ingredient in almost every building in Stronghold: Warlords. Out of all the Wood that you start with, most of it should be spent building several Wood Camps. Of course, this will require some playing around with the maps, as the layout of each one is different. That means it’s, ideally, near a bamboo forest for wood, and iron deposit, a stone quarry, and saltpetre, so that workers don’t need to travel as far to deposit those resources. Therefore, it’s important to replace the Stockpile in an area that’s equidistant to each major resource. The Stockpile will be the very first building that you place, as it’s where almost every resource your workers gather will be stored. Regardless of what game type you choose to venture into, it’s important to understand the fundamentals of building a base and getting off to a fast start, as enemy players are particularly aggressive when it comes to attacking. How to get off to a fast start in Stronghold: Warlords Don’t expect the same depth as Cities: Skylines, but it’s a fun way to pass the time. There is no fighting or competition with other players, or worrying about maintaining an army- just you, your creativity, and the townsfolk that will help you put it on display. This is the choice for those that like a relaxing bit of city building, with a classic flair. You can choose where each leader starts, what level of resources are available from the onset, and the difficulty of the opposing AI. Some are “Balanced,” which means they’ve been constructed with fairness in mind, while others are “Unbalanced,” which can be used to add either an extra level of difficulty or an advantage over the opponents. There are nine maps to choose from, each accommodating a different size of battle. Custom Skirmish gives you the option to face off against up to seven AI-controlled leaders, or in teams of various sizes.

It’s proof you don’t have to reinvent a character sometimes it’s just about building off what’s there. While the remake stays very true to this story arc, it amazes me how just a few changes such as extra lines and nuanced voice acting can make the impact so much stronger. She doesn’t have to go to the lengths that she does for Sherry – she chooses to, and that says a lot about her as a person. This is necessary, because unlike Leon, who has a job to serve and protect, Claire’s journey is more personal. Overall, Claire’s character is much more convincing, selling me on her feelings and motivations. These interactions hold more nuance and depth, and it allows Claire’s connection to Sherry feel much more personal and less about filling the “big sister” archetype she did when the game first came out. Maybe it’s the desperation or sternness in her voice in these scenes, but more than better voice acting is at play here. A nurturing and protective side that simply wasn’t as strong in the original emerges. I think this remake sells it better since we see it more in how Claire interacts with Sherry’s mom Annette and kidnapper Chief Irons. My favorite moment comes when Sherry asks Claire why she’s doing all this for her, and Claire mainly states, “Because I care.” You believe those simple words, because Claire’s proven it time and time again by stopping at nothing to ensure Sherry’s survival. This improved characterization goes beyond simple comments during combat and exploration Claire and Sherry’s relationship is also enhanced and their interactions feel much more emotional and genuine. At one point, I made a mistake in the sewers, causing her to slide down the rushing water to an area I had previously been and damn, did Claire’s annoyed “You’ve got to be kidding me” reaction line up with mine. It feels like you’re right there with her, having eerily similar thoughts. Leon does this to some extent too, but Claire’s responses have an extra hint of sass and frustration. I love her shouting obscenities as she downs zombies, and saying things like “You can’t be serious” or “What the hell is that?” as her luck runs out. Who can forget her satisfying "Oversee this, bitch” quip? I’m glad that the Resident Evil 2 remake gave her just as many, if not more, great reactions. In many ways, Claire feels closer to her Resident Evil Revelations 2 incarnation –composed and confident, ready to tackle the situation at hand and equipped with a killer one-liner. One thing I couldn’t get over as I played her campaign is just how these little additions, such as better bonding moments with Sherry and hilarious responses to being caught off guard by zombies and Mr. The remake stays faithful to the original story, but it adds some extra layers to Claire’s personality. Her red vest and motorcycle gave her a tough exterior, while her concern for her brother and quest to save Sherry Birkin showed a more sensitive side. She’s everything you’d expect from a good hero, and when we met Claire back in 1998’s Resident Evil 2, she was simply that, only defined by a few characteristics. She’s caring, strong-willed, and a total badass. I’ll be upfront: Claire Redfield has always been my favorite Resident Evil character. |
